Reading ahead for a doctoral dissertation oral defense. The dissertation is on Yu Hua’s fiction writing. Happy to reencounter Yu Hua’s “Death Narrative” and one of my favorite short story starters:
本来我也没准备把卡车往另一个方向开去,所以这一切都是命中注定的。
