Still more institutional events about refounding the university in the age of AI. Everybody is indeed very concerned.
But no one seems willing to question the root assumption underlying the problem. The EEES helped build a university system oriented toward training students to become better workers, and degree programs were redesigned around professional skills. Now that the job market no longer needs so many of those workers, we are in deep trouble.
Had we built the university system on a different set of values, we would be in a very different situation.
