Well-being for PhD students

Today I attended a workshop on emotional well-being in PhD studies led by my colleague Alba Pérez. Like many other things in life, research is largely a matter of feeling, and regular training in this area should be a must for any scholar.

Two tangential takeaways from the workshop. First, the doctorate is in many ways a relic of the Middle Ages, as very few professions are still organized around a mentor–apprentice relationship. Second, I learned a new word: anhedonia.
